A practical guide to tracking your London PHV driver licence application
Applying for a London private-hire driver licence involves checks, supporting documents and assessments. This independent checklist by Evans Ofori helps you organise your own progress. It does not access TfL records, book assessments or determine eligibility.
How to use the progress tracker
- Review each section against the latest TfL instructions and any correspondence you receive.
- Tick a milestone only when you have completed the step that applies to you.
- Your selections are saved in this browser on this device, not sent to EvansOfori.com.
- Use Reset to clear your progress or Print to keep a paper copy.
- Do not enter or upload identity documents, DBS certificates, application numbers or medical details into this checklist.
What the tracker covers
Preparation: Check the application guidance, identity and right-to-work evidence, driving-licence information and any overseas good-conduct requirements.
Medical and background checks: Follow TfL’s current instructions on the TPH/204 medical declaration, enhanced DBS and any relevant Update Service requirements.
Assessments: Check the English speaking and listening, SERU and topographical skills requirements, including applicable exemptions or adjustments.
Application and decision: Use TfL’s official portal, respond to requests for further evidence, and wait for formal TfL approval before treating your licence as granted.
Important questions
Does 100% progress mean I am licensed?
No. It means you have marked all the items on your personal checklist. Only TfL can confirm whether your application has been approved and a licence granted.
Is this the official TfL application tracker?
No. The tool is independently created by Evans Ofori and is not connected to TfL’s application systems. For official messages and status information, use the TfL customer portal.
Can requirements change?
Yes. Procedures, assessments, fees and evidence requirements may change, and individual applications can differ. Check the official guidance and the instructions sent to you by TfL.
